Curriculum
Our year-round forest school homeschool enrichment program is conducted entirely outdoors, allowing children to thrive regardless of the weather and gain practical outdoor knowledge and skills.
Our unique “Wilderness Passport” curriculum ensures your child will:

Outdoor Safety
Learn comprehensive outdoor safety basics, including evaluating outdoor play spaces, identifying poisonous plants, and knowing what to do in wildlife encounters such as with rattlesnakes or bears.

Wildlife Awareness
Develop extensive knowledge of local wildlife, plants, and animal tracks.

Practical Skills
Acquire practical outdoor skills like rock climbing, knot tying, using compasses, and reading maps, as well as camp setup and meal preparation.

First Aid
Receive basic first aid training for wilderness settings.

Survival Techniques
Learn survival basics for various outdoor environments.

Mountaineering Basics
Gain mountaineering basics through a variety of hiking adventures.
Our forest school program emphasizes hands-on learning that takes place entirely outdoors. Additionally, we allocate ample time for children to engage in free play and exploration.
Program Schedule and Locations
For the 2024-2025 school year:
- Tuesdays , 9:00am-2:00pm , alternating between South and North Colorado Springs, Monument / Palmer Lake
- Fridays, 9:00am-2:00pm, Monument / Palmer Lake / Larkspur areas &7mdash; Fridays offer hikes only, without Wilderness Passport program.
Rock climbing
In addition to our mountain hikes, engaging nature and outdoor skills lessons, and unstructured free play, our forest school homeschool enrichment program also includes dedicated rock climbing sessions for children. These sessions are led by experienced and certified rock climbing guides from Front Range Climbing company.
Age requirements
Considering the program’s dynamic nature and the hiking challenges involved, we recommend Tuesday program for children aged 6 and above. And our Friday program is best for children 8-12 years old.
